That’s kinda weird… but pretty cool.
Also, Jon Stewart: Thank you for finally talking about Occupy Wall Street. Better late then never :)
There’s only a small line to cross if we talk about bromance and actual romance, and you really have to admit that we slashers might eventuallyoverreact sometimes…
BUT! Fear not, fellow slashers, there is a way to legitimately decide whether two dudes are really just good friends or actually a tad more. I’m talking of course about the book of bros: THE BRO CODE
So I went through the book with all the answers, and I found them:
ARTICLE 119
“When three Bros must share the backseat of a car, it is unacceptable for any Bro to put his arm around another Bro to increase space. […]”
ARTICLE 126
“In a scenario where two or more Bros are watching entertainment of the adult variety, one Bro is forbidden from intentionally or unintentionally touching another Bro in ANY capacity. This may include but is not limited to: the high five, the fist bump, or the congratulatory gluteal pat. Winking is also kind of a no-no.”
THERE. Their romance is canon! And now let’s all celebrate Tuesday!
Bank of America customers with basic checking accounts will be hit with a $5 monthly fee in order to use a debit card for purchases, Bloomberg News reported Thursday.
Banks and card companies have been aggressively establish and raising fees in recent weeks as banks plan for new rules taking effect Oct. 1 that limit the amount they can charge retailers for each debit card purchase.
JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo are currently testing $3 fees for debit cards in select areas, and Citibank recently announced it is raising its fees for checking accounts.
“The economics of offering a debit card have changed with recent regulations, and we’ve decided to introduce a monthly fee for customers who use their debit cards for purchases,” Anne Pace, a spokeswoman for Bank of America, told Bloomberg.
Fees will begin being assessed in January and clients with premium accounts will not be affected, Pace said.
That’s it. I’m switching to Ally.
Tony Perkins // Accidents Will Happen
OMG! I had no idea he could sing. Stop my beating heart. This is beautiful.
(Whenever I come across Anthony Perkins things, though, I automatically think of Sondheim. Because they were bffs. And lovers at one point. And… Idk, I’m crazy)
An excellent read.
But for those who believe that protests are only worthwhile if they translate into quantifiable impact: the lack of organizational sophistication or messaging efficacy on the part of the Wall Street protest is a reason to support it and get involved in it, not turn one’s nose up at it and join in the media demonization. That’s what one actually sympathetic to its messaging (rather than pretending to be in order more effectively to discredit it) would do. Anyone who looks at mostly young citizens marching in the street protesting the corruption of Wall Street and the harm it spawns, and decides that what is warranted is mockery and scorn rather than support, is either not seeing things clearly or is motivated by objectives other than the ones being presented.
I also like this paragraph a lot:
Most importantly, very few protest movements enjoy perfect clarity about tactics or command widespread support when they begin; they’re designed to spark conversation, raise awareness, attract others to the cause, and build those structural planks as they grow and develop. Dismissing these incipient protests because they lack fully developed, sophisticated professionalization is akin to pronouncing a three-year-old child worthless because he can’t read Schopenhauer: those who are actually interested in helping it develop will work toward improving those deficiencies, not harp on them in order to belittle its worth.

The New York Transit Workers Union (TWU) voted to support the Wall Street Protestors at their meeting last night.
A member of TWU Local 100 told a reporter that they would join the protest Friday at 4PM.
Here’s more about them from their website:
The TWU has four main divisions: Railroad; Gaming; Airline; Transit; and Utility, University and Service. The Union has 114 autonomous locals representing over 200,000 members and retirees in 22 states around the country.
Occupy Wall Street has been picking up some decent support from unions in the past few days. Yesterday we reported that the Teamsters Union declared their support for protestors, and we also found out that the United Pilots Union had members at the protest demonstrating in uniform.
Keep it rolling, folks! I wish I could make it to New York, hoping to make Occupy Denver soon! I’m thrilled to see the union support. Workers everywhere, arise!
Nice!
Anyone know if there are any of these happening in Texas?
ETA: looks like there’s one happening in Austin.
This is great news. It’s really starting to get some steam.
union support is so important. this is great.
